Docker

The Customer

Docker is the world’s leading software container platform. Developers use Docker to eliminate “work on my machine” problems when collaborating on code with co-workers. Operators use Docker to run and manage apps side-by-side in isolated containers to get better compute density. Enterprises use Docker to build agile software delivery pipelines to ship new features faster, more securely, and with confidence for both Linux and Windows Server apps.

The Challenge

Docker needed a subscription management platform that provides flexibility in modelling products and pricing plans, and that integrates seamlessly with Salesforce and its reporting systems.

The Solution

The Billforward solution allows Docker to iterate very quickly and experiment with product features, bundles, and pricing. Via the powerful API it also gives Docker the ability to view and manage all customer activity through Salesforce.

The Benefits

By removing the headache of developing and maintaining an in-house billing system, Billforward has allowed Docker to focus on developing its own product and has been a key factor in enabling Docker’s continued rapid growth.

Bourne Leisure

The Customer

Bourne Leisure is one of the largest providers of holidays and holiday home ownership in the UK. Its brands (Haven, Butlins and Warner Leisure Hotels) are amongst the most recognised within the UK holiday market. They own and operate leisure assets on 6,500 acres of some of the best real estate in the country. Every years more than 4 million families go on holiday to one of their parks, resorts or hotels.

The Challenge

In 2015 Bourne Leisure made the decision to deploy a wired and wireless broadband internet service. After an intensive and competitive process, they selected Billforward to help them manage and monetise the access to internet connectivity across the entire estate.
Bourne Leisure has numerous customer groups in different locations, many of whom are entitled to free internet access and have multiple choices for internet speed and data volume to bill for. These factors made this a highly complex use case for Billforward.

The Solution

By integrating Bourne Leisure’s CRM systems and those of their internet service provider, Billforward has ensured that the right products and prices are presented to the right customers, no matter which one of Bourne’s 72 sites they are visiting.

It also gives Bourne Leisure real time visibility of internet revenue, and the ability to carry out A/B testing to maximise revenue. Advanced charting shows trends of customer usage and activity, via an integration with Chartmogul.

The Benefits

Without having a robust and dependable billing platform, which could handle such a high level of complexity, Bourne Leisure would not have been able to effectively monetise its network or guarantee the return on investment. Being able to deliver different levels of both free and paid for internet access to its guests in such a highly competitive industry has given Bourne Leisure a significant strategic advantage.

Raven Tools

The Customer

Raven Tools, recently acquired by Tapclicks, is a SaaS platform that pulls together marketing data from different sources and allows users to analyse the data in a series of intuitive and easy-to-build reports.
Raven Tools uses more than twenty data connectors to aggregate all the key marketing information that its customers need – including  Google Analytics, Google AdWords, Search Analytics from Google Search Console (GWT), Bing Ads, Facebook Ads, and Twitter.

The Challenge

Raven Tools is a rapid growth company with a focus on innovation and development. Its homegrown billing system required constant attention and was a factor in preventing Raven Tools from scaling quickly.

Like many SaaS companies, Raven Tools offers more than one plan, with additional numbers of users and campaigns. Its platform is not only used by in-house marketers, but also by marketing agencies with numerous clients of their own. This introduced an additional layer of complexity.

The Solution

The Billforward platform enables Raven Tools to manage its upgrades, downgrades and expansions more efficiently. It also allows them to add new features and packages quickly and effortlessly.

The Benefits

Adopting the Billforward subscription management platform has given Raven Tools the ability to grow quickly. Core OS

CoreOS, Inc is based in San Francisco and supports the development of open source projects including Container Linux, Kubernetes and more. They create products for management of containerized applications.

The Challenge

CoreOS has a relatively complex business model. Its three core products Tectonic, Quay Enterprise and Container Linux have varying levels of free access depending on usage. Its Container Linux product also has the need to create customized pricing for individual enterprise customers. Therefore it needed a usage based billing engine that could also customize pricing and invoicing for enterprise customers.

The Solution

Billforward’s usage based billing features have allowed CoreOS to easily continue to experiment and make adjustments with varying free and paid-for pricing models. It also gives them the ability to move users from free to paid access via a number of different triggers, such as users, nodes or data.

The enterprise billing and invoicing features allow CoreOS’s sales team to create tailored packages in real time for customers over the phone, working within pre-defined discount parameters. The invoice design and payment request feature means that all sales invoices are configured exactly as CoreOS wants them.

The Benefits

By using a highly automated and scalable platform like Billforward, CoreOS is not using valuable devops resources to build and maintain a billing platform rather than product. It has given CoreOS faster, more flexible and more accurate management information. This ultimately means they can provide their customers with more benefits, and grow faster as a company.
